Masoumah Zahra Abdul Halim is set to be the first Melayu Boleh woman and youngest Malaysian to swim the English Channel. The 17-year-old Sekolah Menengah Convent Ipoh to swim and 34 km to 37 km from Dover in the south of the United Kingdom to Calais, northern France, in the strong currents and cold temperatures between 2 and 6 July

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today congratulated Zahra and his younger brother, Salman Ali Shariati, who would train him for the Dover at the end of the Monday Earlier, Najib received approximately RM160, 000 in sponsorship Zahra for achieving the mission of creating the history of Melayu Boleh Challenge for the country.

Najib, who also Minister of Finance also has a Jalur Gemilang to Zahra.

"The challenge for her, by all means is not easy. But the fact that Zahra, at the age of 10 years, and Salman, swimming 8.9 km in Selat Dinding me and other Malaysians the confidence that he can do. "God willing, there will be the first Malaysian Melayu Boleh women and young people to break that record."

Najib also paid tribute to several other Malaysian women who made the country proud of the creation of documents in their own niches. Among them, essentially Sharifah Mazlina Syed Abdul Kadir.

"Our young people must always strive to do what they think is difficult to reach or extraordinary. In our daily life, we strive to do things that we believe that we can not do, or rather impossible.

"If we are strong, physically and spiritually, love challenge and committed and not easily overcome by emotions or weaknesses, there are no problems in this world or we do not face or solve."

"I hope our youth will follow Zahra, and those who are successful and not deviate from the straight path or prohibited by their religion." The success of the youth, the role models for the nation.

Najib called on all Malaysians to pray for the success of Zahra. "We have to prove to the world that we are a nation that can not succeed where we are."

Marathon swimming Datuk Abdul Malik Mydin reaches the coast of Cap Gris Nez in Calais, France on August 3, 2003, the first Malaysian to swim in the canal. He finished the performance in 17 hours 30 min 15 sec.
