Datuk Yusof Haslam or his real name Md Yusof. Bin Md. Aslam was born on April 24, 1954. The fourth child of four brothers and sisters received his education at Sekolah Kebangsaan Polis Depot and Sekolah Menengah Aminuddin Baki.

The director and producer, which the popular series about the local police received recognition Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) for his contribution and improving image PDRM through broadcasting. He had a number of recognition, the Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Rahim Noor on December 26, 1996, Kuala Lumpur police chief, Dato 'Syed Abdul Rahman Syed Abdul Kadir, 31 July, 2002. Then he got the recognition of Tan Sri Norian Mai and December 30, 2002, Kuala Lumpur police chief, Dato 'Abdullah Mustafa, September 9, 2004. The final approval, he received an Appreciation Award was given the name "Friends of the police of the former Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Hj. Omar, which was given to him by the Prime Minister, Dato 'Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Datuk Yusof Haslam got involved in film industry in 1972 at the age of 17. Datuk Yusof Haslam was engaged as an extra for two years with Studio Merdeka, at the time when movies are still in black and white. Then in 1974, then this Melayu Boleh director got an opportunity from Shaw Brothers and for the first time playing one of the key roles in the film entitled "Permintaan Terakhir" next to Uji Rashid. During his early twenties, Datuk Yusof Haslam had acted in several films; amongst them were "Jiwa Remaja" and "Cinta dan Lagu". In 1978, Encik Aimi Jarr brought Datuk Yusof Haslam to Datuk Jins Shamsudin and got a role in the latter’s film "Tiada Esok Bagimu". Later, in 1979 this melayu boleh actor acted in a film called "Jejak Bertapak".

Datuk Yusof Haslam have produced almost 20 films that are his own work-of-art. This Melayu Boleh director first film was "Bayangan Maut" in 1990. Some of the actors / actress who perform in the film were Ella, Norkumalasari, Sabree Fadzil . This film has made way for his into the filmmaking world.


As a Melayu Boleh men, Datuk Yusof Haslam interested in the stories with people in uniform and the favorite TV series at the time were like "Combat", "TJ Hookers" etc. Moreover, there were many drama produced in our country but not this kind of series. In fact, Datuk Yusof Haslam had once the ambition to become a police inspector but did not materialize and also have never acted as a policeman. In addition, a police friend of mine suggested that him to produce police story. Datuk Yusof Haslam have been involved in drama production for more than 20 years now starting 1985 and police-story plot has been the pillar in the drama.

The first film that opened the ‘drapes of success’ for Datuk Yusof Haslam was "Bayangan Maut". This film attained success and revenue collection was RM1.1 million. Encik Aimi Jarr once said that I was going to be a millionaire director. Datuk Yusof Haslam was blushed and thank God now that his words have become reality. Coincidentally, "Pemburu Bayang" obtained 2 million, "Sembilu" 4 million, "Sembilu 2" received 6 million and "Maria Mariana"’ attained 4 million.Its show Datuk Yusof Haslam is one of Melayu Boleh in Malaysian Film industry.
